In the Karst, close to Trieste (Italy), different geophysical data have been acquired, for hydrological purposes. The area is characterized by the presence of cavities and galleries, the deepest of which are supposed to be water saturated. A 3D near-surface seismic survey has been performed, together with ground-penetrating radar (GPR) multifold lines and some electric resistivity profiles. Through the 3D tomographic inversion of the seismic cube, and the comparison with the resistivity data, the depth of the saturated zone is mapped. We applied the same approach also to some reflected GPR events that increased the resolution in the shallowest part of the study area.

Abstract
In the Karst, close to Trieste (Italy), different geophysical data have been acquired, for hydrological purposes. The area is characterized by the presence of cavities and galleries, the deepest of which are supposed to be water saturated. A 3D near-surface seismic survey has been performed, together with ground-penetrating radar (GPR) multifold lines and some electric resistivity profiles. Through the 3D tomographic inversion of the seismic cube, and the comparison with the resistivity data, the depth of the saturated zone is mapped. We applied the same approach also to some reflected GPR events that increased the resolution in the shallowest part of the study area.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
