Policy Brief "Recommendations for the development of a sustained ocean observing network in the Adriatic Ionian macroregion"

About 40 marine experts from most of Adriatic Ionian macro-Region countries, (Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece and Malta) participated at a Horizon Scanning workshop organized in Trieste (Italy, 5-7 December 2016) on marine observing networks. A wide consensus was achieved during the meeting in recommending the stakeholder to launch an international programme aimed to further the Ocean Observing System of AIR region. This requires an integrated approach to marine observations, exploiting at best the existing capacities and adding value to the marine observations in support of the implementation of EUSAIR Action Plan, aligning funds and initiatives at transnational level to reduce the fragmentation and to maximize the impacts of the investments for the benefit of science and society.
