Blue Skills report 2025

The political endorsement provided by the 5+5 Dialogue on Research, Innovation and Higher Education of the Western Mediterranean Forum has been confirmed again during the Ministerial Meeting in Lisbon, within the declaration and the work plan signed in 2024 by the Ministries of Education and Research of the member countries (https://www.fiveplusfiverihe.org/). The training offer of the Advanced Master in sustainable blue economy continues to follow the principles of the European Commission's new Sustainable Blue Economy Strategy for 2021 and has been updated to the most recent EU legislation, including the European Ocean Pact. The Secretariat of the UfM has demonstrated its permanent support for the activities carried out within the Blue Skills initiatives and has participated in several actions and events: in the framework of the Advanced Master in Sustainable Blue Economy, Giuseppe Provenzano, from the Higher Education and Research Division of the UfM, delivered a lecture on "Research and Blue Economy: science diplomacy and the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean" on 25th September 2025 in Trieste.
