The rudist limestones which outcrop in the Monte Grisa area (Karst of Trieste, Italy) pertain to the upper part of the Borgo Grotta Gigante member (Senonian p.p.) of the Trieste Karst Limestone formation. This study regards some aspects of systematics, biostratigraphy, and palaeoecology of the rudist fauna, which occur in the Keramosphaerina tergestina zone (Santonian-Campanian). The rudist fauna consists of 16 radiolitid species and only one hippuritid. A new chronological distribution for some rudist species is proposed. Both rudists and micro fossils testify an evolution of inner carbonate platform settings. -from Authors

Abstract
-from AuthorsFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
