Understanding root signals and their consequences for the whole plant physiology is one of the keys to tackling the water-saving challenge in agriculture. The implementation of water-saving irrigation strategies, such as the partial root zone drying (PRD) method, is part of a comprehensive approach to enhance water use efficiency.
