Analysis of data from artisanal fisheries, that have been subjected to relatively small modifications over time, can represent an important source of ecological information. The features of long-lasting fishing data of anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) in the Gulf of Trieste (northern Adriatic Sea) are useful for long term analysis. The aim of this work is to analyze a large dataset of landings in the Gulf of Trieste, from 1902 to 2014, using statistical decomposition of monthly time series and developing an integrated model for estimating the incoming biomass of anchovy. The additive model is the best to fit this time series; the final output includes four incoming biomasses based on different vectors of fishing effort applied, and it explains the possible trend and the dynamic of the resource in the area of study.

Abstract
Analysis of data from artisanal fisheries, that have been subjected to relatively small modifications over time, can represent an important source of ecological information. The features of long-lasting fishing data of anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) in the Gulf of Trieste (northern Adriatic Sea) are useful for long term analysis. The aim of this work is to analyze a large dataset of landings in the Gulf of Trieste, from 1902 to 2014, using statistical decomposition of monthly time series and developing an integrated model for estimating the incoming biomass of anchovy. The additive model is the best to fit this time series; the final output includes four incoming biomasses based on different vectors of fishing effort applied, and it explains the possible trend and the dynamic of the resource in the area of study.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
